OFF-LINE CAPTION EDITOR

 

Caption Editor sought by the National Captioning Institute, a nonprofit company, to create closed captions for broadcast television, cable, commercials, music and home video productions.  A Caption Editor transcribes directly from audio components of video productions, inputs text, proofreads, and sets timing parameters for caption display using a computer workstation.  Current openings in the Burbank, California office.  Shifts include day shift and swing shift. 

Undergraduate degree required.  A field related to English, Communications or Journalism preferred.  Applicant must possess excellent English/proofreading skills and accurate typing skills.  Previous editing and proofreading experience is helpful.  The ability to communicate in sign language or the willingness to learn is desired. Tight deadlines are usual and overtime is often required.  Starting salary in 20’s.
