DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

We are currently seeking an energetic, charismatic, outgoing, creative and innately optimistic candidate with a "can-do" attitude for our Tyson's Corner, Virginia office. The Development Coordinator is responsible for providing essential, results-oriented assistance to the Director of Development and Community Relations in the full range of fundraising activities necessary to secure more than $250,000 in contributed income per year.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts or related field. At least two (2) years experience in development and research-related activities, including grant proposal-writing. Knowledge of national and regional corporate and foundation funders, and of current trends in grant making. Superior writing, editing and research skills. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and establish and meet deadlines. Ability to engage donors and prospects verbally and in writing with sincerity and enthusiasm. Ability to work in a communicative, interactive, and team-based setting. Proficiency with MS Office suite of programs, including MS Word, Access, Excel and Powerpoint.
Experience in or natural inclination toward sales/marketing/advertising techniques a plus. Current membership in professional organizations such as APRA or AFP helpful. Knowledge of sign language or willingness to learn is preferred.
