NCI Awarded Federal GSA Schedule Contract

Washington, DC – The National Captioning Institute (NCI), headquartered in Vienna, VA, announces a 5-year Federal Supply Schedule Contract to provide state-of-the-art closed captioning, multiple language subtitling and described video accessibility services to federal agencies.

The addition of NCI’s captioning, multi-language subtitling and described video services to the GSA Schedule gives federal agencies easier access to NCI’s more than 20 years of experience providing a complete array of accessibility services. Through NCI’s GSA Schedule, federal agencies will be able to utilize captioning, subtitling and description services to meet their Section 508 responsibilities. Section 508 requires all federal agencies to make electronic and information technology that is developed, procured or maintained by the agency accessible to federal employees and individuals with hearing or visual disabilities.

“NCI is honored to be an approved GSA vendor and we look forward to the administrative efficiency that our GSA contract offers government clients to become better partners with the federal government,” stated Jack Gates, NCI President and COO. “This multi-year contract offers NCI the opportunity to provide our full array of accessibility services to assist federal agencies with their Section 508 responsibilities.”

Although this is NCI’s first GSA Schedule contract, the global captioning leader has enjoyed an excellent record of performance providing captioning, multi-language subtitling and description services for federal agencies including National Institutes of Health, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Labor, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Agriculture and Department of Transportation.

NCI’s GSA award is the result of a lengthy process in which the GSA evaluated NCI’s services, experience in the industry, performance history, customer satisfaction and business strategy, among other criteria, and determined NCI could provide a valuable service to federal agencies.

The GSA Schedule is one of the main procurement vehicles for all federal agencies. Created by Congress to improve government efficiency, the GSA assists federal agencies in the purchasing of supplies and services. NCI’s GSA Schedule has been approved for 5-years, beginning March 4, 2003 through March 2, 2008, with the option to renew for one additional 5-year period. The agreement is categorized under the GSA Federal Supply Schedule 70, Information Technology Equipment, Products and Services. NCI’s GSA contract number is GS-35F-0362N.

With offices in the Washington, DC metropolitan area; Burbank, CA; New York, NY; Dallas, TX; and London, England, the nonprofit National Captioning Institute is the global captioning leader, supplying the highest-quality closed captioning and related services for broadcast and cable television, home video and DVD, and government and corporate video programming.
